If you’re familiar with my books, I think you’ve noticed that, whether playfully through my colorful illustrations or through my words that describe the deep bond of love that unites family members, my children’s stories always reference family. The reason for this choice is that I firmly believe in the fundamental value of family itself.
Below you can find some sentences that perfectly describe what family means to me:
- “It is the vital cell and pillar of society.” (Pope Benedict XVI)
- “The family is a kind of school of deeper humanity.” (Gaudium et Spes, 52)
- “The family is a gift of God, the place where He reveals the power of His saving grace.” (Synod Report to Pope Francis, 5)
- “As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.” (Saint John Paul II)
- “If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family.” (Saint Teresa of Calcutta)
- “It is necessary to go back to seeing the family as sacred – the heart of the culture of life.” (Saint John Paul II)

My hope and my prayer to our almighty God is that family can be seen as sacred again, for our children, for all the nations, for our entire humanity.
